Yaaay you've decided to have an engagement shoot! This is the most special time for just the two of you, and is worth celebrating and preserving just as much as your wedding day. It can be overwhelming thinking of locations you might want to go to for your engagement shoot, so I've pulled together some of the best spots in Scotland ~ these are my favourites and I'm certain you'll love them.

  1. Dr Neil's Garden, Edinburgh

Situated at the back of Holyrood Park, Dr Neil's Garden is a haven of nature, florals, cobblestones and winding paths. It's cosy and intimate, with plenty of little private spots to explore or simply sit and enjoy each others company. I recommend getting up early for this one so the gardens are as quiet as possible, and watch the sun come up through the trees.

  2. The Old Town, Edinburgh

For a more urban, yet authentic Scottish vibe, Edinburgh Old Town is the perfect place for your engagement shoot. With ancient buildings, cobblestones, traditional lamposts and winding alleys, it feels truly magical. Dance at the top of the Vennel Steps and take in the views of the castle before heading down to Makar's Court, a scene straight from your favourite wizarding world. There are so many perfect spots to explore and in such close proximity, we can do them all.

  3. Holyrood Park, Edinburgh

More than just Dr Neil's Garden, Holyrood Park is a Highland's escape without venturing to the Highlands. It's situated in the city itself, but the wild hills cover the landscape making it feel a million miles away. With chapel ruins, lochs, mountains and moors, Holyrood Park is the perfect place for couples who love the outdoors and an authentic Scottish setting.

  4. Troon Beach, Troon

While we have tonnes of gorgeous beaches in Scotland, Troon is one of my favourites. The beach is long, bordering a golf course, so it's easy to venture away to a more private area. The water is shallow and dotted with rock pools, perfect for paddling and exploring, creating an experience and adding diversity to your gallery. Dance along the sand and wander up the dunes into the tall grass to sit and listen to the waves. It's a magical spot and one of my personal favourites.

  5. Kelvingrove Art Gallery, Glasgow

A little different from the others, Kelvingrove Art Gallery is perfect for couples who prefer the indoor, quiet experience of the arts. Wander through the gallery, get cosy on the balconies and bask in the culture. It's a perfect spot for quiet couples or for a rainy day, being peaceful and romantic.

All with their own unique qualities but equally as beautiful, any one of these settings could be perfect for your engagement shoot. And for couples who love a road trip and adventures in the Scottish Highlands, check out my favourite Highland locations that could be perfect for you engagement shoot.

Now, decide what vibe feels most like you and where you and your partner would feel comfortable to narrow down the type of location first, such as indoor or outdoor, private or open. We'll create a Pinterest board to align with your vision and get creative from there, creating the perfect bespoke experience for you and your love.
